Century Plate Lithography Demonstration at RISD

on Fri, 11/16/2018 - 23:08

I demonstrated Century Plate Lithography, a non-toxic and sustainable process using bio-based, biodegradable etches and processing materials at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)'s Printmaking Department on November 6.  I am thrilled that they have adopted Century Plate Litho for the rest of the semester, in place of ball-grained plates and the traditional, toxic and petroleum-based chemistry.

Century Plate lithography is a new, sustainable and environmentally friendly process using re-grainable Century Plates and biologically-based, biodegradable processing materials.  In this 3-day weekend workshop we will cover how to grain a plate, registration and paper preparation, how to use a variety of drawing materials, etching, processing, proofing, printing and how to re-grain your plate for a new image.

CCP is located in the historic stone carriage house of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion in Norwalk, CT, which is accessible from NYC by Metro-North.
