Class Description: Create single-color screenprinted t-shirts using hand drawn/painted images and text or digital images. In this class, you will learn how to coat a screen with light-sensitive emulsion, make light-opaque films, expose your screen, wash it out and print on t-shirts or tote bags with non-toxic, water-soluble inks.
Classes are small, with lots of individual attention and are designed for all levels of ability.
What to Bring: Bring your own t-shirts and/or tote bags or other clothing to print on , but keep in mind you will only have time to print a few - we are packing a lot of processes into a short amount of time to keep the tuition cost down.
Come prepared with images to trace onto film or digital images ready to email me. You are also welcome to bring pre-cut stencils as long as the material is flat and completely opaque (blocks the light).
Please keep in mind we will be printing in one color. We will pack a lot of processes into a short amount of time, so keep your designs simple for this first experience. Be sure your Image size is a maximum of 8.5 × 11”. For a T-shirt front, I recommend no larger than 8 × 8”.
Screenprinting is fun, but can be messy. I recommend bringing an apron and/or work clothes.
Participation Cost: Materials are included in the price of the class: 1 screen and light-opaque pens (to use for the class period), film, emulsion, ink, test fabric and paper.
*Note: Taxes include VT 6% & Town of Wilmington 1% sales tax rates
