Learn the art of the unique print! Monotypes/monoprints are a fun, variable and painterly way to create prints on paper. We will cover several techniques: additive, reductive and trace monotype printing, using stencils and monoprinting with pre-existing matrixes (such as pre-cut Lino or wood blocks).
We will print with non-toxic, water-soluble inks. Brayers, pencils, brushes and other tools will be available to borrow for the class period.
Children and youths under 16 years old are welcome with an accompanying adult.
Classes are small, with lots of individual attention and are designed for all levels of ability.
What to Bring:
Come prepared with printing and color image ideas, such as sketches, paintings, drawings, photographs and photocopies that will fit within an 8 × 10” sheet of paper. Please bring your own brushes, if you have them, and an apron or smock for printing in.
Participation Cost:
The class fee also includes the following materials: ink, tracing/transfer materials, acetate, newsprint and 4 sheets of specialty printmaking paper.
