Location:
Robert Frost Stone House Museum
121 Route 7A
Shaftsbury, VT 05262
Description:
Learn to cut a linoleum block and make multiple prints on paper with Corinne Rhodes of Cherry Press! Linocut printmaking is a fun and simple way to create your own relief prints. Once you have carved a block, it can be used again and again.
In this class, we will cover the basics: image preparation and transfer methods, sharpening and care of tools, carving methods, paper and ink preparation, color-mixing, rolling out ink with brayers, registration techniques, printing on a portable press and by hand. We will print with non-toxic, water-soluble inks. Linoleum cutters, brayers and other tools will be available to borrow for the class period.
Beginners and experienced printmakers are welcome to join us. Children are welcome with an accompanying adult – just be aware that the cutting tools are sharp!
