Non-toxic Century Plate Litho Workshop Part 1 at CREATE Center for the Arts, Palm Desert, CA

I'm very excited to be introducing West Coast artists in the Coachella Valley to sustainable litho this coming January!  In this workshop students will learn how to grain a reusable Century Plate like a lithographic limestone, prepare a registration maquette and printing paper, transfer images and draw directly on the plates with a variety of media, etch and process with bio-based, biodegradable materials, print on CREATE's etching/relief press, clean and store an inked plate and re-grain a plate for

October 5-7, 2018: I taught a 2.5 day intensive Century Plate Lithography Part 2 class at EFA-Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City. In this whirlwind weekend workshop we re-visited techniques covered in Part 1 and covered graining for and coating plates with Posi-Coat (the first non-toxic, positive-working photo emulsion), exposed test plates, learned how to create tusche washes and and etch and process them with non-toxic materials and re-visited proofing on RBPMW's Charles Brand litho press.

This August come and spend a relaxing weekend retreat learning the art of non-toxic Century Plate lithography in beautiful Brattleboro, VT at the River Gallery School. There are many bed & breakfasts, motels and campgrounds to choose from near by.  Take part in Brattleboro's lively Gallery Walk the evening of August 3rd or go for a swim in one of the area's many gorgeous swimming holes. That clear, mountain water can't be beat!

I will be returning to my favorite printshop in NYC: EFA-Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop this summer!  In Part 2, we will experiment with tusche and toner washes and Posi-coat, a non-toxic, biodegradable, positive-working photo emulsion.
